Hiked and biked 9.7 miles
Another LONG sleep and a slow start to the day.
We took the Windmill Trail in the morning:
There was the more recent windmill and remnants of one from the 1880’s:
And there was the site of an old wagon trail. It makes you wonder how people traversed this very rocky and barren landscape.
After lunch, we headed back to the biking/hiking trail and walked the Canyon Rim Trail for a bit and went to the Presa Canyon for a different perspective:
Though we did have another Life Bird, a Bewick’s Wren:
…we thought you might also enjoy some of the colours of this desert. The desert flowers and cactus are beautiful right now:
There were some real Western movie critters too:
We recommend this park for a two-day stay on your way to Big Bend. The trails are right within the park so easily accessible. And the sunsets are beautiful:
